FAQ #12

The standard Internet POP3 and SMTP protocols are inherently insecure because everything is transferred in clear text (unencrypted), including your user name and password.  If you would like to increase the security level of your account and encrypt all data exchanged between you and DONet's mail servers you can do it by enabling SSL support in your e-mail program.

NOTE: Not all e-mail programs support SSL-enabled POP3 and SMTP.  DONet has verified that SSL support is available in Outlook Express 5 and Outlook 2000.
