This documentation will assist you in
setting up Microsoft Outlook 97, 98 or Outlook 2000 to get your DONet
email. We recommend having all updates and patches to Microsoft Outlook
before using the software for email. You can get these updates from
Microsoft at
http://officeupdate.microsoft.com.
Now let's begin. Make sure you have Outlook
open.
Ø
First, click on “tools” at the
top. You will have one of two options here. If you see “accounts” click on it
and continue on to Section A. If you see “services” (and accounts is not
present) click on it and continue on to Section B. Note: Another screen
will pop up after clicking either one of these options. This must happen before
you take the next step.
Section A.
If you have an accounts menu:
1.
Click on the Mail tab at the top
and click on the “Add” button on the side of the window. Select “Mail” from the
menu that pops up.
2.
Type in a Display name. Enter in
what you wish. Click next.
3.
Type in your e-mail address.
(e.g. if your username is “johndoe” then your address will be johndoe@donet.com)
click next.
4.
On the next screen leave the top field (my incoming mail server is a POP3
server) as is. There are two other fields here. Type (lowercase letters is a
must) pop3.donet.com for the incoming field, for the outgoing field type in
smtp.donet.com click next.
5.
The next screen you will need to enter your username and password.
Remember that the username is always lowercase and the password is case
sensitive. Click the remember password box if you do not wish to keep typing in
your password each time you go to get mail. Click next.
Now you can receive and send your email with
Outlook. Close Outlook and restart it so the changes take effect.
Section B.
If you have a services menu:
1.
Click the “Add” button. Select “Internet E-mail” and click OK. On the
General tab, in the first box, enter in DONet Mail. Fill in your name and your
email address. Then click the “Servers” tab.
2.
For the Incoming Mail (POP3) field, type in pop3.donet.com (lowercase).
For the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) field, type in smtp.donet.com (lowercase). Your
Account Name is your DONet username (all lowercase) and your password is your
DONet password. Remember, it's case sensitive. Click the “Connections” tab.
3.
Select your method of connection.
I suggest using LAN (local area network) for the connection method, as it can
stop your PC from trying to dial-up when a connection is already present. Click
OK.
That's it! You can close Outlook and restart
it, and you should be able to send and receive email. Enjoy.
