Note: If you are using a previous
version of internet explorer, the connection wizard will be found
under Start / Programs / Accessories / Internet tools .. it will be
called "Get on the net" or "Get Connected!"
- Click on the "Start" button.
- Select "Programs"
- Select "Internet Explorer"
- Select "Connection Wizard"
The "Internet Connection Wizard" window
will appear with "Get Connected!" at the top.
- Click "Next"
A "Setup Options" Window will appear.
- Select the middle radio button. It states that you
want to set up a new connection to your existing Internet account
(with us) using your phone line.
- Click "Next"
A "Set up your Internet Connection" window
will appear.
- Select the first radio button: "Connect using
my phone line"
- Click "Next"
A "Dialup Connection" window will appear.
- Select "Create a new dial-up connection"
- Click "Next"
A "Phone Number" window will appear.
- Enter in the DONet data number:
- Dayton numbers: (937)222-1752 or (937)910- 0100
- Springfield numbers: (937)322-1071 or (937)917-0029
- Middletown number: (937)915-9110
- Cedarville, Jamestown, and Xenia number: (937)-919-0154
Note: Be sure to check with your phone company if you are not sure whether either of these numbers is a local call.
- Click "Next"
A "Username and Password" window will
appear.
- Enter in your user name as it is written on your
Vitals sheet. All user names are lower case.
- Enter in your password EXACTLY as it is written
on your Vitals sheet. Passwords are randomly generated and a
mixture of alphanumeric characters for enhanced security.
An "Advanced Settings" window will appear
- Select the "No" radio button since you
can use the default settings supplied by the wizard.
- Click "Next"
A "Dialup Connection Name" window will
appear.
- Enter in whatever you would like to call your
dial-up connection. This name is just between you and your
computer. If you don't feel like being creative you can enter
"DONet".
- Click "Next"
A "Setup Your Mail Account" window will
appear.
- Select "Yes" if you would like to set
up your email account. (for setting up other email accounts on
your system, wait until you have competed this setup and use the
Outlook Express Inbox Assistant to set them up. Instructions are
located in the Outlook Express help files)
- Click "Next"
An "Internet Mail Account" window will
appear.
- Select the "Create a new Internet mail
account" button
- Click "Next"
A "Your Name" box will appear
- Enter in your complete name as you would like
others who receive your email to see it.
- Click "Next"
An "Internet Email Address" box will
appear
- Enter your primary email address as it appears on
you vitals sheet. The username associated with this email account
is generally the same as that used for your dial-up account.
- Click "Next"
An "E-mail Server Names" box will appear
- Enter "pop3.donet.com" for the pop3
server, enter "smtp.donet.com" for the smtp server.
- Click "Next"
An "Internet Mail Logon" box will appear
- Select the first radio button and enter in your
primary username as the POP account name and
- Enter in your password (the same as for your
dial-up account) again EXACTLY as it is written on your vitals
sheet.
- Click "Next"
A "Friendly Name" box will appear
- Replace "mail.donet.com" will a any
name you want to call your email account (e.g. "petes
email")
- Click "Next"
A "Setup Your Internet News Account"
window will appear
- If you wish to use Internet News, select the
"Yes" radio button. If not, select "No" for
this option and then go to step #45
- Click "Next"
A "Your Name" box will appear
- As with your e-mail account setup enter your name
as you would like others to see it.
- Click "Next"
A "Internet News E-mail Address" box will
appear
- Enter in your DONet email address (e.g.
joe@donet.com)
- Click "Next"
An "Internet News Server Name" box will
appear
- Enter in "news.donet.com" for the news
(NNTP) server
- DO NOT select the "my news server requires
me to log on" option
- Click "Next"
Another "Friendly Name" box will appear
- Replace "news.donet.com" will a any
name you want to call your email account (e.g. "joes
news")
- Click "Next"
A "Set up your Internet Directory Service"
window will appear
- Select "No" for this option. This is
not a service currently offered by DONet.
- Click "Next"
A "Complete Configuration" box will appear
FINALLY.
- Select
"Finish"
You will now be able initiate a connection to DONet
by either selecting Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, or your
Internet News Reader. When the connection window appears, your
username and password should be entered in the appropriate fields (the
password will show up as asterisks for security reasons), and all you
have to do is click on the "connect" button to do the net.
