DONet's E-Mail Management Control
Panel is a useful tool that allows you to do things with your
DONet e-mail that aren't possible with many other Internet service
providers (ISPs). We give you tools to help block unwanted spam or
annoying e-mail, set up a vacation e-mail autoresponder, or forward
copies of your e-mail to a handheld device.
The first time you access the E-Mail Management Control
Panel you will be prompted to install the mail filtering tools into the
DONet account that you logged in with. After that you will be able
to configure the tools to do the following things:
E-Mail
Forwarding
You can choose to have your DONet e-mail delivered
normally to your DONet e-mail box, or forward it to a "remote"
e-mail address outside of DONet, possibly even hosted with another ISP.
Login to the E-Mail
Management Control Panel. If you've never installed the mail
filtering tools before you will be prompted to do them as soon as the
page loads. After the tools have been installed click on the E-Mail
Forwarding options link.
-
To have your e-mail delivered normally (straight to
your DONet e-mail box) select the "Your DONet e-mail box"
delivery option.
-
To forward your e-mail elsewhere select the
"Forwarded to an outside e-mail address" option, and enter
the outside e-mail address in the field provided.
Press the "save" button to save your changes,
or the "cancel" button to go back to the E-Mail Management
Control Panel menu without saving changes.
E-Mail
Blocking
If you want to block e-mail from a specific sender, or
with a specific subject, you can automatically delete it using the DONet
E-Mail Tool.
Login to the E-Mail
Management Control Panel. If you've never installed the mail
filtering tools before you will be prompted to do them as soon as the
page loads. After the tools have been installed click on the E-Mail
Blocking options link.
-
To enable the e-mail blocking feature make sure that
the "Enable e-mail blocking based on your
supplied list of senders or subjects" box is checked.
-
To save blocked e-mail in a special folder, rather
than immediately throwing it away, check the box to "Deliver
blocked e-mail to a special folder that you can review at any
time". Blocked e-mail that is saved in this way can only
be checked using the DOMail
web-based e-mail tool.
-
List e-mail addresses that you would
like to block in the area provided. The addresses you list do
not need to be complete, but only need to contain a portion of the
entire address. For example, if you enter "junk@donet.com"
then you will block e-mail just from "junk@donet.com", but
if you enter just "junk" then you will block e-mail from
"junk@donet.com", "junk@aol.com", "junk@yahoo.com",
etc. It is not important whether or not you enter your
blocked e-mail addresses in upper or lower case; the e-mail blocker
is case-insensitive. Put each e-mail address to block on a
single line.
-
List e-mail subjects that you would
like to block in the second area provided. As is the case with
blocked e-mail addresses, the subjects you list do not need to be
complete but only need to contain a portion of the actual
subject. If you enter "Make Money Fast" as a blocked
subject then it would block e-mail with the following subjects:
"Make Money Fast", "Make Money Fast With Your Own
Home Based Business", etc. It is not important whether or
not you enter your blocked subjects in upper or lower case; the
e-mail blocker is case-insensitive. Put each e-mail subject to
block on a single line.
Press the "save" button to save your changes,
or the "cancel" button to go back to the E-Mail Management
Control Panel menu without saving changes.
Spam
Filtering
Tired of receiving unsolicited commercial e-mail from
people you don't know and about products you don't want? You can use the
DONet E-Mail Tool to try and delete it before it gets to your e-mail
inbox.
Login to the E-Mail
Management Control Panel. If you've never installed the mail
filtering tools before you will be prompted to do them as soon as the
page loads. After the tools have been installed click on the Spam
Filtering options link.
-
To enable the e-mail spam filtering feature make
sure that the "Enable e-mail spam filtering"
box is checked.
-
To save spam filtered e-mail in a special folder,
rather than immediately throwing it away, check the box to "Deliver
filtered spam e-mail to a special folder that you can review at any
time". Spam filtered e-mail that is saved in this way can
only be checked using the DOMail
web-based e-mail tool.
-
Select the spam filter sensitivity,
"1" being the least sensitive and "4" being the
most sensitive. For more information please review our detailed
explanation of the spam filter settings
and detection method.
Press the "save" button to save your changes,
or the "cancel" button to go back to the E-Mail Management
Control Panel menu without saving changes.
Autoresponder
Planning a vacation soon but don't want people to think
you're ignoring them? Use the DONet E-Mail Tool to let people know
that you'll be away from your e-mail for a while.
Login to the E-Mail
Management Control Panel. If you've never installed the mail
filtering tools before you will be prompted to do them as soon as the
page loads. After the tools have been installed click on the Autoresponder
options link.
-
To enable the e-mail autoresponder make sure that
the "Enable e-mail autoresponder" box is
checked.
-
Select the autoresponder frequency in the drop-down
list ("Once per day", "Once per week", or
"Once per month"). We automatically track who your
autoresponder has sent a response to, and make sure that we don't
autorespond more often than is specified in your frequency
selection. We do this as a precautionary measure to prevent
infinite loops between two mail servers that have autoresponders
running, resulting in thousands upon thousands of messages being
generated by the two servers babbling with each other as fast as
they can.
-
In the field provided enter the message you would
like to send to people who send you e-mail while you are away.
Press the "save" button to save your changes,
or the "cancel" button to go back to the E-Mail Management
Control Panel menu without saving changes.
Note: while the autoresponder is enabled you will
continue to receive e-mail and have it delivered as you have specified
in the E-Mail Forwarding settings. The autoresponder is often used
just to let people know that you have received their e-mail but will be
unable to answer it until you return.
Handheld
Support
Have a Palm or cellular phone with e-mail capabilities?
Now you can forward selected messages to your wireless device with the
DONet E-Mail Tool so you're always in touch.
Login to the E-Mail
Management Control Panel. If you've never installed the mail
filtering tools before you will be prompted to do them as soon as the
page loads. After the tools have been installed click on the Handheld
Support options link.
-
To enable the e-mail autoresponder make sure that
the "Enable e-mail autoresponder" box is
checked.
-
Enter the e-mail address of your handheld device in
the field provided.
-
Select the maximum message size that you want
forwarded to your handheld device. If you receive an inbound
message that exceeds the size you select you will be notified that
the message has arrived, but the actual message itself will not be
forwarded.
Press the "save" button to save your changes,
or the "cancel" button to go back to the E-Mail Management
Control Panel menu without saving changes.
Note: while handheld e-mail forwarding is enabled you
will continue to receive e-mail and have it delivered as you have
specified in the E-Mail Forwarding settings. This option simply
allows you to be notified when important e-mails you have been waiting
for have finally arrived.
